Like any emergency kit, the Pocket Survival Pak — which was developed by Doug Ritter, founder of the survivalist website Equipped To Survive — can help lost or injured explorers signal helicopters and planes, start fires, boil water, melt snow for water, catch fish, navigate through the woods, trap small animals, perform rudimentary first aid, and repair damaged gear.

It turns out that "Bushcraft" published in 2014 is WORD FOR WORD THE SAME as "Northern Bushcraft" published in 1988. There are no changes to the text or illustrations in the body of the text. The only "update" is a 14 page supplement with color illustrations at the end of the book. I am sorry, but changing the title and copyright date with essentially no other changes to the book amounts to a "bait and switch." I do not blame Mors for this. He is now elderly. I blame the publisher.

For all the stress that some survival games can press on you, nothing compares to the harrowing 2D adventure. As you’ll find out in our This War of Mine review, the game offers a very different breed of survival. It’s a depiction of a group of civilians’ struggling to stay alive in their war-ravaged country. Trapped in a besieged house, pinned down by snipers, and attacked by other survivors looking to take what you’ve found, it’s a game of traumatic decisions and life-or-death consequences. It’s the side of conflict that few war games truly deal with.

If you’re content with fighting against disease, bodily functions, and zombies who occasionally phase through walls, you’ll get to DayZ’s best feature: exploration. The world of Chernarus is a Soviet wasteland, and Bohemia has captured that Eastern Bloc atmosphere with the towns and villages around the map. DayZ’s forests feel genuinely life-like rather than being man-made imitations, while there’s a true sense of isolation out in the wilderness.

If you do not find an old used knife, you get the Mora Knife 840 for 10,- € in every Bauhaus building side do it yourself shop. They sell it under the name “Bauhaus Arbeitsmesser, Mora 840”. It is there in a red sheath, and it is printed Bauhaus on, but that doesn’t matter! In other shops for gardening tools you get the “Fiskars K 40” for 10 € too, that is more or less the same knife. The "Lamps, that's pretty but that's better when that's useful!" said the old uncle, cloistered in his devastated wooden cabin. Then came the survivors, armed with lamps and picks. "What are you doing in my house? Get out of here!" But the villagers stayed, and put their lamps in the old man's house. "But how is that possible? No one can place objects in my house except myself!" And the villagers left, without a word. Several minutes later, the ghouls landed in the old man's cabin. They destroyed the walls and doors. The man felt his time coming. The ghouls approached and, one by one, disappeared into the lights of the Christmas neon lights. The lamps were finally useful, and the old uncle shouted, "Well, that's what I was saying! Lamps, that's pretty but that's better when that's useful!"
When Bethesda announced Fallout 76 with a teaser trailer this morning, promising more information at E3, it was easy to assume that the new game would be a traditional single-player role-playing game. But Fallout 76 is in fact an online survival RPG that’s heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust, according to three people familiar with the project.
