This bushcraft knife will enable you to perform whatever tasks are required to secure yourself food and shelter in the wild under any conditions. Whether you’re building a blind or an emergency shelter to protect you from record snowfall the Spyderco Plain Edge bushcraft knife will be there for you. The O-1 stainless steel used in the blade is an oil hardening tool steel that exhibits excellent wear and is renowned for retaining a good cutting edge. It’s used here to give you an advantage over nature that always seems to be holding all the cards, especially if you’re lost or hurt far from camp. With the Plain Edge Knife on your belt you’ll level the playing field a bit and give yourself a fighting chance. It’s comfortable, well balanced, light, durable and tough as nails and while you’ll pay a little more for it you won’t be disappointed with what you get.

When Bethesda announced Fallout 76 with a teaser trailer this morning, promising more information at E3, it was easy to assume that the new game would be a traditional single-player role-playing game. But Fallout 76 is in fact an online survival RPG that’s heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust, according to three people familiar with the project. How could you have a discussion about outdoor knives without including an entry from Buck? The Selkirk Fixed Blade Survival knife features a 4 ⅝ inch drop point 420 high carbon stainless steel blade and weighs in at a relatively stealthy 7.6 oz. It’s a great looking knife but it’s no gentleman. This bushcraft knife gets after wood, underbrush, game and anything else you need to process to advance your odds of survival. It boasts a contoured Micarta handle, full tang blade and steel bolster that can double as a hammer if needed.

I don’t need to explain why you need this. Just turn on the news. Mass casualty incidents have become the new normal in our sad world, and the situation seems to be escalating. Accidental injuries are a frequent occurrence too. For situations like these, and other emergencies, North American Rescue has designed a Civilian Trauma Kit to provide lifesaving equipment that almost anyone can use. Focused on bleeding control, the CTK consists of a tough clear pouch full of easy-to-use medical supplies. Most importantly, the kit contains a C-A-T® tourniquet, one of the safest and most effective pre-hospital tourniquets available. The kit also contains gauze and pressure dressings to control life threatening bleeds that are not on a limb. Keep a kit like this in your vehicle, hunting pack, bug-out bag and even in your EDC gear. The life you save may be your loved one’s or your own.

( If you buy a sleeping bag second hand, you have to take one with synthetic filling, so that you can wash it in your washing mashine, and in mummy form, so that it is not so heavy like a camping sleeping bag in blanket form. You also get the mummy form much better in your rucksack, than a sleeping bag in blanket form. If you find different offers you should buy the smallest they offer, because you will start in the summer, and for that a small one kilogramm or one and a half kilogramm sleeping bag is for you better than a bigger one. You should inform yourself about the sizes of sleeping bags around one kilogramm in a shop, before you look at the free markets, so that you know, what you have to look for.)
Lastly we have the pack that you carry all your bushcraft tools and other gear in.  As highlighted in my article on how to choose a backpack (read it here), make sure you pick a comfortable bag that matches your body type and that you can comfortably carry.  It is also important that your bushcraft backpack is waterproof and has multiple compartments rather than one large sack.  This makes it far easier to efficiently organize and then find your gear when you want to use it!
You find at youtube at Corporals Cornet, Dehler and if you look under “Bundeswehr Poncho aufbauen” several options how to construct a tent with a military poncho. That smaller size than the british military tarp is for Germany the better option, because it is lighter, as a raincoat more flexible and you can hide it better, because it is smaller, when you go later for wild camping tours, where you change every night your camp in the holidays. It is well known, that it is raining in britain a lot, so there the larger tarp is better, but in Germany we have normally very dry summers, so you do not really live inder your tarp, the Bundeswehr is the better option for Germany. with the tarp you should get some tough but thin synthetic cordage, for example paracord, for making loops for your wooden tentnails and some lines to tie it to one or two trees. With the poncho you need two grey plastic bags people normally use for rubbish to sit on them under your poncho if it rains, if you want to do them under your sleeping bag, you cut and open them, so that they get the form of an insolation matress. An insulation matress you do not need in Germany in the summer, if it is cold or hard you can put a jacket under your sleeping bag. Only in autum and spring you should use the foldable insulation matress from the German Bundeswehr, which you can buy for 10,-€ used. It fits in the and is the back frame of the German Bundeswehr Kampfrucksack 60 liters, that costs 40 € used, and is the first choice for a german bushcrafter, because its Flecktarn Camouflage pattern fits perfectly in german natural environment, what is good for animal obsevation and wild camping tours. That rucksack allowes you to do all tours, you wants to do in germany and summer tours trough europe too. So if you buy that and treat it well, you do not need tobuy a second one in your life.
"description": "The Professional Version of the Bleeding Control Kit contains the necessary items to control serious bleeding and prevent further blood loss for a victim suffering a traumatic injury. The compact kit has a well laid-out interior that allows easy access to the components inside. It can easily be stored in places such as a car, backpack, office drawer, or cabinet at home. The included instructions prioritize which injuries to treat with the appropriate components. The instructions detail how to treat massive spurting blood loss with a tourniquet and how to treat a wound oozing blood with direct pressure using the gauze and hemostatic agent (only included in Professional Kit).
I think I have spent a small fortune on Amazon by now and I have never written a review until now. I have read quite a few Bushcraft and survive books and in my opinion they're all good. Any book that teaches a person how to stay alive in the wilderness with little tools and resources is great. With that said, Mors Kochanski's Bush Craft book is hands down the best book I have read so far. It is easy to read, easy to understand and it has a lot of illustrations. Out of all the books I have read so far, if I could recommend only one book to anyone wanting to learn wilderness skills this would be the one.
If you are into practical wilderness skills, then this book is for you. If you look at your mind and what you know as your greates wilderness tool, this book is for you. If you are enamored with expensive gear and gadgets and wilderness living via the latest fads, look elsewhere. I live in the SE United States, far away from the boreal forest but many of the skills in this book apply here.
It turns out that "Bushcraft" published in 2014 is WORD FOR WORD THE SAME as "Northern Bushcraft" published in 1988. There are no changes to the text or illustrations in the body of the text. The only "update" is a 14 page supplement with color illustrations at the end of the book. I am sorry, but changing the title and copyright date with essentially no other changes to the book amounts to a "bait and switch." I do not blame Mors for this. He is now elderly. I blame the publisher.
Personal Locator Beacons: These are smaller, affordable, reliable, and offer many new features. Companies like SPOT and DeLorme now offer products that post almost real-time tracks of adventurers far off the grid. The SPOT Gen3, for example, sells for as low as $150 and enables users to send simple, pre-programmed messages (all ok, send help, etc.) to friends and family or initiate rescue through a first-responder network.

Bushcraft takes a step forward with the Bushcraft Carbon Fixed Blade bushcraft knife. This is a knife that feels great in your hand and makes the performance of typical survival tasks easy so you can concentrate on things like plotting your escape route or finding water. It’s a thin blade, good for carving yet it’s tough enough to harvest the wood you need to get a fire going and shelter built. The Tungsten DLC anti-corrosive coating protects the high carbon blade from the elements to give you years of faithful service and the over-molded rubber handle ensures you can direct your energy effectively without worrying that your hand will slip. Just a great bushcraft knife.
Different locations present different climactic challenges, which you’ll want to factor into your survival-kit-making decisions. Trips through the northern reaches of the globe, for example, will force you to confront very cold temperatures. This may make things like emergency hand warmers and hot chocolate important in your survival kit. By contrast, you’ll want to prepare for heat stroke, snake bite, and torrential rain if you are hiking or camping in the tropics.
Harvest trees, ore, and more to become a master crafter. Use your hands, a Smithy, or a Fabricator to craft increasingly complex and powerful gear. Build a massive base using modular pieces--ranging from Thatch, to Wood, to Stone, to Metal. Customize your base by painting it and placing signs that you can actually draw on. Weapons, clothing, & armor gear can also be painted to express your own visual style.
"Mini survival kits" or "Altoids tin" survival kits are small kits that contain a few basic survival tools. These kits often include a small compass, waterproof matches, minimum fishing tackle, large plastic bag, small candle, jigsaw blade, craft knife or scalpel blade, and/or a safety pin/s. Pre-packaged survival kits may also include instructions in survival techniques, including fire-starting or first aid methods. In addition, parachute cord can be wrapped around the tin. The parachute cord can be used for setting up an emergency shelter or snaring small animals. They are designed to fit within a container roughly the size of a mint tin.
What are other things you might want to have with you? We’ve talked about carving already. Your basic bushcraft knife will enable you to undertake most of the carving and woodcraft skills. One task you will struggle to complete with a straight-bladed knife is carving a bowl, even the shallow bowl of an eating spoon, never mind a larger serving spoon or ladle. A curved knife designed for this purpose makes easy work of the job. The smallest of these types of knife, generally known as spoon knives, is a good investment. They come in right-handed and left-handed versions. At first get one for your dominant handedness. This in combination with your bushcraft knife will enable you to carve all the small the small to medium sized utensils you might ever want.

The last bushcraft knife on our list is the Spyderco Bushcraft Plain Edge Knife. This is a seriously handsome piece of survival gear made from only the highest quality materials and built to last. It sports a 3 ⅞ inch O-1 high carbon steel blade that’s full tang and boasts a Scandinavian grind out of the box. The overall length of the knife is just under 9 inches and it weighs a relatively trim 7 ¾ oz. The G10 glass fiber nylon handle is contoured to the human hand and provides a no slip grip in all conditions.
The Runningsnail Solar Crank Weather Radio is also a AM/FM NOAA weather alert radio, but it also functions an SOS Alarm, flashlight, and phone charger. The SOS alarm and its flashing red light is a unique feature that could help you alert emergency responders for help in the most dire situations. This radio can be hand crank powered, solar charged, and it takes triple A batteries. It can also provide up to 12 hours of light or 4-6 hours of radio time with its 2000 mAh rechargeable battery. PROS: Can be charged via solar and has loud SOS alarm. CONS: No battery indicator on how much battery power is left. So having a range of different fire lighting techniques at your disposal is very, very useful. Having a range of various fire management skills is also very important. We can split fire lighting up into two main stages really: the first is ignition and the second is taking a small flame up to an established fire. There appear to be many individual methods of ignition but they all boil down to six categories, these being sparks, friction, chemical, electrical, solar and compression.

Remember the fundamental rule of good living in society: The richer you are, the richer you will become. The extractors are further proof of this. These machines will be difficult to design but once they are placed in your home, they will collect stone, iron, sulphide and uranium without you having to leave your home! Of course, you'll have to keep them on with gasoline. For that, you would do better to fill with orange rotten. Compost could be useful. For those with an addiction problem and a pale pink head, you will need to look for a flower to create an antidote. Be careful, this flower is extremely rare (only one on the whole map), let's hope it doesn't spawn in town! You have also found a way to collect these acorns that have been taunting you for so long in the branches of trees. Well done! You can eat them... or plant your own forest
One final item that you may want to consider adding to your kit is a “cheat sheet.” A cheat sheet should include any information that may be of value in a survival situation. This may include first-aid procedures, a list of geographical references for navigating without a map, instructions for tying various knots or a list of edible fruits in the area. You’ll likely want to print out such a list and then have it laminated to protect it. However, it will be easier to pack several small cards rather than a single large card, if your list ends up being rather long.
Kits are designed in a variety of ways to accommodate your personal needs. Individual and multiple-person kits are available to ensure your entire family is protected. We also offer kits with all the supplies you need for an extended timeline, including 72-hour emergency kits complete with MREs (Meals Ready to Eat). For those living in hurricane and earthquake-prone areas, specialty kits are designed with emergency essentials like tools, gloves, toilet paper, and a pocket first aid kit. Additional supplies are available for added protection.
Due to the aggressive nature and unknown origin of the virus, the United Nations enforce an iron curtain surrounding the USA only to carry out multiple food drops. Only military flights are allowed to the continent of Northern America and trading over sea becomes forbidden. With the USA now totally isolated from the world, rumours tell of outbreaks in other countries. In November when winter settles down on the USA, most of the population has died. As sudden as the virus appeared, it vanished, leaving the few remaining people behind...	Read more

Lightweight survival kits are generally seen as a backup means of survival; however, these can kits can be extensive, and have come to include tools that are generally found in larger kits as survival technology advances. Some examples of these tools are high power flashlights, rapid use saws, signal devices such as mini signal mirrors, and water purification methods.
The 2nd Morakniv entry on our list is the Craftline Pro S Fixed Blade Utility Knife. It looks like something that belongs in your kitchen but really comes to life when you need it in the wild. The Craftline bushcraft knife has a 3 ⅝ inch blade crafted from high grade stainless steel and an overall length of 8 ¼ inches which puts it firmly in the mid-sized category of bushcraft knives. The TPE rubber handle which is responsible for giving the knife a more domestic air is actually incredibly comfortable and allow you to hold your grip even while leaning into more labor intensive tasks like splitting wood.

That aside, bushcraft is not intended to be a survival ordeal when going out into the wilds of wherever we live. Bushcraft by definition is the skill of living in the wild. That doesn’t mean we need to deprive ourselves of modern tools and equipment. If you are comfortable heading out with nothing but a pair of shorts and a hat, then do that. Most of us, however, require a few more tools and gear.
You’ll obviously need to tailor your survival kit to the number of people who will depend upon it. If you are going out for a solo camping trip, you won’t need as many supplies as if you are heading out with an 8-person team. The number of people depending on the kit won’t affect some of the items in the kit, but it will affect others. For example, you’ll only need one fire starter, no matter how many people are in your party. By contrast, you’ll obviously need to adjust how many space blankets are included with the kit, depending on the size of the group. My $100 Walmart Survival Kit - 7 Day Survival Challenge - The Build
